tillandsias are in the bromeliad family and most of them are totally ephiphytic. this one, tillandsia cyanea can also be grown in an orchid mix. I've got this one tied to the trunk of a ficus with a bit of spaghnum moss wrapped around. they prefer morning sun only or dappled sunlight. this one has just flowered, together with the beautifully coloured flowers and the heady perfume it's crying out to be admired.

In that case, Roy, I demand to see more photos of your house and garden....lol. I think you have a wonderful eye for colour combinations. Is all of your house the same colour? How fantastic with all of your tropical greenery to show it off.
we live in a small flat at the back of our shop alice. the block is very narrow so there's not a lot of garden against the house.I'm going to install flicker soon so I'll be able to do a series of photos of the garden layout.
Wow I love the colours and can't wait to see more pictures. Have you thought of a Zen garden in the narrow part of your yard?
unfortunately its all driveway on one side and 1.2 metres wide on the other side we have a few shrubs there, but it's really only an access strip, thanks for the suggestion.
