Green thumb Sunday

Thank you for the invitation to join Green thumb Sunday.
Well.... our dear old heritage green watering can has gone into retirement. We decided that with the imminent introduction of level4 water restrictions ( which means restricted use of w/cans and buckets on alternate days) we really needed a more efficient watering can. The old chap looks quite happy housing the geraniums don't you think? Well one thing about the drought it's going to give us lots of exercise if we want to keep our gardens alive. Fortunately we've got our water tank as back up if we get any bad heatwaves. We think we'll probably plant more geraniums, being mediterranean plants they seem to cope well with hot dry conditions.
Happy gardening!

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

You're WELCOME :-)

Well, what would the garden be without the watering? *lol*

(Lovely pictures below this one too)

I didn't realize that you had the blogroll up, but I saw your comment on one of my sites and decided to visit- good thing too because now you are officially on the blogroll and you should get lots of visitors today. The blogroll has grown a lot in the last week or so, Yeahhhh!

I'm sorry to hear that you are under drought conditions. Luckily we haven't experienced much of that except for the summer of 2005 - that was a pretty dry summer.

Great use for your old watering can! At least it's still helping take care of some plants.

Welcome to the group! I like how you recycled the old can and made it still feel useful! The water restriction is difficult with a garden but by planting the right plants as you are you will still have blooming beauty!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Welcome to GTS! Our watering can needs to be retired too but only because it's leaky ;~)
Sorry about the drought conditions there!

Many different containers work so well as plant pots, just like your watering can. Yes, it looks like geraniums may have to be the new 'must have' plants as the drought continues. Valerian and gazanias are also great for colour with very little water. Succulents, too. Welcome to GTS, Roy.

I must say that level 4 water restrictions make it hard.

I heard the other day that Australia has had higher than average rainfall this year but apparently it is just not falling in our dams and the farmers are missing out.

How much did it cost you to set up your water tank if you don't mind me asking. I find it funny because in woolloongabba about 15 years ago you weren't aloud to have water tanks because of mossies and other things and now they are giving people money to help put them in.

I love the geraniums in the watering can - and thanks, I need some tips for water-wise plants, we start level 5 restrictions in November.

I always love your photos :) The vintage watering can makes a very pretty container. I love geraniums!
I feel so bad for all you Aussie gardeners with your drought conditions. It's so unfair.
We just keep having rainy day after rainy day! It's much too wet here! We had sleet and a bit of wet snow this morning. Very dreary weather!

Glad to hear the news. We haven't watered our garden for quite some time now, and yet it's flourishing! Sorry it's taken me a couple of days to get here, spent Sunday in the real garden re doing the vegie patch!

I love this shot--mostly because I have a soft spot for old, well-used garden equipment. If I could, I'd send you some of our rain---it's been going almost nonstop for the past week.
